Inspiring events professionals for a major conference venue

Conference Call has constantly evolved with changes in technology and communications trends, developing from a print newsletter into a magazine and then two digital formats.

Our CEO, Fraser Allen was first contacted by the Edinburgh International Conference Centre in 1998, three years before he had even launched White Light. Working for his previous employers, he relaunched a customer newsletter for them called Conference Call and they asked to follow him when he started the new business. The challenge was to show that White Light could add genuine value to this relatively new project.

White Light proposed a full relaunch of the magazine to create something much more visually appealing, with well-thought out content designed for the target audience – and not merely promoting EICC facilities. The ensuing magazine ran for many years and became a key element of the organisation’s marketing strategy. However, the EICC saw White Light’s pioneering work in digital magazines using Adobe Flash, they asked us to take the project online and create a lively animated version with embedded video. This move saw reader engagement soar but we then advised the EICC that, with mobile signalling the demise of Flash, it would be sensible to create a Conference Call microsite instead. This has been running for the past three years and is proving highly successful for the EICC.

Perhaps the greatest testament to Conference Call, is that the EICC has placed its faith in White Light to deliver the project for more than 15 years – and along the way, we have delivered a number of other projects for them, including an IoIC-award winning corporate brochure.

“White Light have produced Conference Call magazine, as well as a number of additional projects, on behalf of the EICC for over 15 years. The length of this working relationship is testament to the creativity, skill and professionalism of the White Light team who continually deliver engaging and visually dynamic features for each issue of the magazine.”
